When first we met she seemed so white
I feared her;
As one might near a spirit bright
I neared her;
An angel pure from heaven above
I dreamed her,
And far too good for human love
I deemed her.
A spirit free from mortal taint
I thought her,
And incense as unto a saint
I brought her.
Well, incense burning did not seem
To please her,
And insolence
I feared she’d deem
To squeeze her;
Nor did I dare for that same why
To kiss her,Lest, shocked, she’d cause my eager eye
To miss her.
I sickened thinking of some way
To win her,
When lo! she asked me, one fine day,
To dinner!
Twas thus that made of common flesh
I found her,
And in a mortal lover’s mesh
I wound her.
Embraces, kisses, loving looks
I gave her,
And buying bon-bons, flowers and books,
I save her;
For her few honest, human taints
I love her,Nor would I change for all t he saints
Above her
Those eyes, that little face, that so
Endear her,And all the human joy I knowWhen near her
;And I am glad, when to my breast
I press her,She’s just a woman, like the rest,

JULIO CORTÁZAR
BIOGRAPHY
1914 - Florencio Cortázar was born in July, the son of Julio Cortázar and María Herminia Scott. "My birth (Brussels) was a product of tourism and diplomacy", jokingly explained years later. Brussels was under German domination. 1916 - Cortázar The family settles in Switzerland, where he awaits the end of the First World War. 1918 - Returning to Argentina. The family settles in Banfield, a suburb of Buenos Aires. The father (who in July never wanted to know, leaves his wife and two children. July reared with his mother, an aunt, his grandmother and his sister Ophelia, less than one years). "I never did anything for us," said his father. Frequent illnesses, broken arms, asthma, first loves. Poisons the story has autobiographical traits. 1923 - First literary exercises. "My first novel to finish the nine years," said. He also writes poems. The family suspected of being kidnapped, which occurs in young Cortázar a great disappointment.
1984 - On February 12 Julio Cortázar died of leukemia and is buried in the cemetery of Montparnasse, where he lay in the tomb Carol Dunlop. In Mexico (Editorial Nueva Imagen) is his book of poems Except twilight. 1986 - Editorial Alfaguara began publishing the complete works of Julio Cortázar, including one that had remained unpublished until his death. To that end created a special collection, Biblioteca Cortazar. The design of the covers was entrusted to Julio Silva.
